Knowledge Base & FAQ
Everything you need to know about system architecture, compatibility, licensing, and privacy.
ApexMouse is a 100% native macOS software utility application (downloadable as an Apple-signed .dmg installer), NOT a physical computer mouse. You install ApexMouse on your Mac (MacBook, Mac mini, Mac Studio, or iMac) to control and dramatically enhance the physical mouse you already own (including Logitech, Razer, SteelSeries, Keychron, and Apple Magic Mouse). It is completely independent and not affiliated with any physical hardware mouse like the ALOGIC Apex mouse.
ApexMouse is an all-in-one native Swift utility combining 120Hz ProMotion CVDisplayLink smooth scrolling, 1:1 hardware cursor acceleration bypass, a live 1000Hz polling rate meter, a magnetic Drop Shelf for file staging, semantic element scrubbing, and a radial dial menu. Unlike Mos or LinearMouse which only handle basic scrolling or acceleration, or BetterMouse which lacks integrated shelf staging and live telemetry, ApexMouse delivers full-spectrum mouse optimization with virtually zero idle CPU usage.
Yes. ApexMouse natively supports leading mice from Logitech (MX Master 3S, G502, G Pro X), Razer, SteelSeries, Keychron, and Apple without needing heavy 500MB+ vendor background daemons or cloud accounts. It provides custom button remapping, smooth scroll wheel momentum, independent X/Y DPI calibration, and gesture control at a fraction of the system resources.
Yes. ApexMouse is officially code-signed with an Apple Developer ID certificate and notarized directly by Apple. macOS Gatekeeper automatically validates its security ticket upon download, guaranteeing it contains zero malicious software.
When macOS undergoes major system updates (Sonoma, Sequoia, Tahoe, or Golden Gate), Apple's TCC permissions database occasionally desynchronizes binary signatures. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility, toggle ApexMouse OFF, wait 2 seconds, and toggle it back ON. Alternatively, run 'tccutil reset Accessibility com.apexmouse.macos' in Terminal.
You can look up your license keys and receipts at any time via your Gumroad Customer Library. A single Standard Lifetime license allows concurrent activation on up to 2 personal Macs (and Power Bundle on up to 5 Macs). For license resets or transfers, contact support@apexmouse.tech.
No. ApexMouse uses real-time IOKit HID device telemetry to isolate built-in and Magic Trackpads. Native Apple multi-touch gestures, fluid pinch-to-zoom, and natural inertia are passed through 100% untouched. External USB and Bluetooth mice receive butter-smooth momentum without affecting your trackpad.
macOS requires Accessibility authorization for utilities that modify mouse input. This allows ApexMouse to intercept mouse wheel events to apply fluid scrolling momentum and detect extra mouse buttons for quick actions.
Virtually zero. ApexMouse is engineered in 100% native Swift and SwiftUI with zero Electron or WebKit bloat. The display link only ticks when active scrolling occurs and goes completely dormant within milliseconds, consuming less than 0.1% CPU at idle.
Yes. ApexMouse is 100% native on both Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4) and Intel Macs running macOS 14 Sonoma, macOS 15 Sequoia, macOS 26 Tahoe, and macOS 27 Golden Gate, with zero Rosetta emulation required.
ApexMouse processes all mouse input 100% locally with zero keystroke or cursor tracking. An internet connection is only needed for initial license key activation and optional lightweight diagnostic reporting, with full offline support and a 15-day grace period between verifications.
The Tip Jar is completely voluntary. ApexMouse contains zero ads and zero tracking scripts. Tips directly fund specialized test mice, high-refresh displays, and ongoing software maintenance for upcoming macOS updates.
